What will your impact be?

What impact does the gospel have on your life and plans?

What will your impact be now that you’ve finished High School?

What impact can you have for the Kingdom of God right now?

IMPACT is crafted by the NSW Baptist Youth Ministries (BYM) team.

Its aim is to help shape your ongoing development as a follower of Jesus, connecting you with others who share your passion and desire to join in with what God is doing in the world, so that you will be spurred on in your faith and ministry.

Members of the BYM Team are responsible for non-academic aspects such as student formation and mentoring for all participants in IMPACT programs. In addition, some participants can enrol in a variety of Australian College of Theology courses and units. These are overseen and implemented entirely by Morling College, taught by Morling College lecturers. Course and unit details are available at Morling College

Our hope and prayer is that as you connect with others who share your passion and desire to join in with what God is already doing in the world that you will be spurred in both your faith and ministry.

The IMPACT Gap Year program is a 1 year program intentionally focused on the formation of young adults in the areas of growing faith, personal development, engagement in community, and opportunity in ministry.

Designed for young adults aged 17-21, the IMPACT Gap year is all about seeing young adults growing and thriving as they step into all that God has for them! As they dedicate 1 year to investing in growing in Jesus, and their self-development the IMPACT program provides the framework and learning opportunities for an amazing experience that we hope will have a deep and lasting impact on their future!

The program includes: Academic study in partnership with Morling College, one on one personal development coaching, ministry and community experience, facilitated group learning, and a mission exposure trip.

Your Gap year days will see you and your fellow impacters sharing bible studies, worship and prayer time as you grow together. There’s input from experienced ministry practitioners and group discussion times, visits to community ministries and practical personal development.

The IMPACT gap year includes the option to study the Australian College of Theology Under Graduate Certificate of Theology (with an option to enrol in additional units for a Diploma of Christian Studies) at Morling College throughout your gap year. Not only will you join other Morling College students, and immerse yourself in college life; you will have the chance to learn from gifted lecturers who are experts in their fields.

For those not looking for academic recognition you can choose the audit gap year option. This means you will still participate in classes and engage with learning and college culture, but will not submit assessments and will not receive a formal academic qualification.

The courses on offer are courses of The Australian College of Theology.

Classes will be taught at the main Sydney campus of Morling College (122 Herring Road, Macquarie Park).

We want you to make a difference and leave your mark on the world. So, the formal, programmed component of your IMPACT week is only 3 days, giving you time for private study and completing assignments, serving at church, maintaining a social life and whatever else you choose.

We will also have a mix of on-campus, off-campus and online time. Below you can see what a sample weekly rhythm would look like

(note: the timetable is subject to change)

The IMPACT team are excited to be partnering with Baptist Mission Australia (formally Global Interaction) for the facilitation of an annual mission exposure trip which will be a two-week trip providing a deeply formative time for students.
Baptist Mission Australia has a long and rich history in mission, empowering communities to develop their own distinctive ways of following Jesus. They will use this experience to facilitate a space for IMPACT students to grow in their cultural awareness, missional approach to relationships and personal growth. You will travel with your fellow impacters, development coaches and Baptist Mission Australia leaders into a cross-cultural mission field, learning through experience and contextualising the good news of Jesus in every place.

The 2023 Cohort travelled to Cambodia stay tuned for info on our 2024 location!

We want you to stay connected to your church so the IMPACT Gap year will form a 3-way partnership between you, us and your church. With the support and regular communication with your church leaders and development coaches, IMPACT will give you lots of opportunities to put your learning into practice and encourage your church leaders to be investing in your development.

You don’t have to be going to a Baptist Church to be eligible to apply for IMPACT Gap year, if you or your church leaders have questions about what is involved please contact us!

Our fees are inclusive with no extra costs. With FEE-HELP available for students enroling in an academic award and payment plan options available + there are scholarships available and we can help you seek church fundraising support.
Our team are ready to help you find the best financial option for you!

Audit – For students choosing a non-academic enrolment, the audit version of IMPACT will include all
the learning, class attendance etc without the assessment submissions and academic recognition.
